Lucas is currently involved as an Early Stage Resarcher in an Marie-Curie project (RurAction) which main purpose is to develop intersectional knowledge in the fields of SEs, social innovation and rural development. The project is composed by a network of 10 Universities and 5 Social Enteprises spread across Europe (see ruraction.eu ). He is based at University College Cork (Ireland) where is working on his PhD.

The focus of my (ongoing) PhD project is on the strategies that Community Social Enterprises develop in order to tackle socio-economic exclusion in rural areas.

Graduate in Sociology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and Masters in”International Migration and Ethnic Relations” by Malmö University and “Teaching in Secondary Education and VET” by UNED. Along this years I have volunteering in several associations, mainly focus on migration issues.

After working for several years as a bell-boy, I decided to come back to science and worked at University of Seville in projects related to migrants and other vulnerable populations at CESPYD (Coalition for the the Study of Health, Power and Diversity) before joining RurAction. At the same time I have been working for the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) dealing with administrative issues of H2020 projects.

I am extremely happy of being part of UCC and RurAction and of having the opportunity to increase my knowledge in these fields.
