Personal Information
Olivier Brolis developed a thesis on the evaluation of the quasi-market for service vouchers in the Walloon Region and the Brussels Region, mainly on employment issues (job quality, job stability, work motivation and multicultural inclusion) with a particular focus on social enterprises, which enabled him to obtain his PhD in economics and management from UCLouvain. He then worked at the University of Lille 1 as a qualified research engineer on the analysis of the structure of low-skilled jobs in France with the aim of identifying the sectors with the greatest potential for quality jobs and thus making recommendations for improving public policies for the integration of people who are far from the labour market. In 2016, he returned to Belgium to work jointly at UCLouvain and ULiège on two research projects: firstly, research on the identification of social enterprise models worldwide and, secondly, research on the digitalization of enterprises in the personal services sector (inventory and risks/opportunities/needs of potential technological developments) carried out for the “Agence du Numérique” with the aim of orienting their policies to support the digitalization of social enterprises. While his academic career has therefore enabled him to develop research skills (data collection, econometrics and psychometrics, evaluation of public policies, in particular) and to refine his expertise (mainly employment, integration, social entrepreneurship and personal services), his course has also offered him the opportunity to develop his teaching skills, first as a lecturer ("Social Entrepreneurship", "Introduction to Economic Systems", "Macroeconomics", "Microeconomics and Industrial Economics" and "Political Economy"), then as a visiting professor ("Social Economics", "Descriptive Statistics", "Quantitative Research Methods", and "Special Issues in Economic and Social Policy").
